Staff from Arora were on hand to celebrate the ribbon cutting ceremony honoring the grand opening of the new Martin Luther King Older Adult Center in North Philadelphia on April 25, 2017. The new $4.3 million, 10,000 SF center features an auditorium, commercial kitchen, fitness room, computer lab, art classroom, billiards room, and space for public events.<\/p>\n
The project was designed by SMP Architects. Arora provided design and construction administration services for the building\u2019s mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. The building\u2019s energy efficient HVAC system and lighting was highlighted at the ceremony.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe center will provide a clean and modern facility for neighborhood residents to gather, learn, and grow together,\u201d said James Burris, PE, Vice President and Operations Manager at Arora. \u201cIt\u2019s an honor to see our work having an immediate and positive impact on the community.\u201d<\/p>\n
The new center was made possible through the City of Philadelphia, Philadelphia Parks and Recreation, and the Office of Council President Darrell Clarke, whose 5th district includes the site.
